Zimbabwe Cricket has named a 16-member squad, led by all-rounder Sikandar Raza, for the upcoming T20I tri-series set to feature South Africa and New Zealand. The tournament is scheduled to begin on July 14.
Sikandar Raza, captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team, poses for a photo following the T20I squad announcement for the tri-series.
The squad sees the return of key players who were previously sidelined. Left-arm pacer Richard Ngarava is back after recovering from a lower-back injury, while all-rounder Brian Bennett has been cleared to play following a concussion sustained during the recent Test series against South Africa in Bulawayo.
Three uncapped players have earned selection: wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga, left-arm pacer Newman Nyamhuri, and legspinner Vincent Masekesa. Additionally, players who impressed in the previous T20I series against Ireland in February have retained their places, including Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga, and Tashinga Musekiwa.
As hosts, Zimbabwe will open their campaign against South Africa on July 14. The series will be played in a double round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final match. The championship decider is scheduled for July 26 at the Harare Sports Club.
The complete squad announced for the T20I tri-series is: Sikandar Raza (Captain), Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Trevor Gwandu, Clive Madande, Wessly Madhevere, Tinotenda Maposa, Wellington Masakadza, Vincent Masekesa, Tony Munyonga, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Newman Nyamhuri, Tafadzwa Tsiga.
